The Pacific Ocean

The sky and the ocean surround me and take me in the blue world.
In the blue world, you can see all the kind of blue.
One is a dolphin.
They swim alongside of BOHEMIAN2 and seem to divert me from the hard time.

I've spent the longest and hardest time on the way to Hawaii.
Since November 1987 when I got into sailing, I've experiented so many situations as ten times of the others, I think.

As soon as I left Japan, I plunged into low pressure.
The velocity of the wind was 40 to 50 knots.
By monstar waves, the yacht was shaked up and down like a broken elevator.
The 30 feet waves seemed to glave whole yacht to crush with a loud explosion.
I closed up the hutch in a hurry.
In the situation like this, oil skin does'nt work anyway.
Rain beat me as if somebody shots me at random.
Making metalic noise, the mast and sail intensively flutter.
But I have to go ahead no matter what.
I really wondered if I'll be alright.

4 days later, I catched favorable wind from south.
Yacht started to slide straight to Hawaii by itself, and the music from radio took me higher and higher.
So I hit a good idea to cook rice for a special dinner.

This is a gift from my friend who is a mountain climber.
According to him, it's a newtipe of camping food.
You don't even need neither gas-stove nor water to cook.
His kindness is really impressed on my mind, and at the same time I wondered how I used to be.
I've been thinking how much I can be good to people without business, while I was eating.

Long trip is a good opportunity to think over.
Specially, the world sailing alone is long and lonely enough to know who you are.
If you were stressed in a city, you can shout and do whatever you want on a boat.
Nobody bother me.
But it sometimes gives you a hard time to get over.
In my case, I was used to spending a hard time alone in ten days.

The light bleeze is blowing from South, I can't see any clouds in the sky.
I took my pants off and enjoyed taking a nap.
I often said "Hi!" to dolphin, turtle and whale.

The 45 days to Hawaii were more than tough.
So, I wished it'd be comfortable and easy.
